Chemicals

Sodium Hypochlorite (Hypo)

Sodium hypochlorite is a professional-grade cleaning agent commonly used in exterior cleaning to break down organic growth such as algae, moss, lichen, mould, and mildew.

What it’s used for:

  • Driveways and patios
  • Render and external walls
  • Paths and paving
  • Heavy organic staining

Why it’s used:

Hypo works by breaking down organic matter at a molecular level, allowing it to be safely rinsed away rather than simply blasted off the surface. This means:

  • More effective cleaning
  • Less reliance on excessive pressure
  • Better results on stubborn growth

Important to know:

Hypo is always:

  • Applied in controlled dilutions
  • Neutralised and rinsed thoroughly
  • Used with surface protection in mind

When used correctly by trained professionals, it is highly effective and safe for exterior surfaces.

Biocide Treatments (Aftercare & Maintenance)

What it is:

A biocide is a preventative treatment designed to inhibit regrowth of algae, moss, and organic matter after cleaning.

What it’s used for:

  • Patios and driveways
  • Paths and paving
  • Exterior stone and concrete surfaces
  • Render

Why it’s used:

Pressure washing removes visible growth, but spores remain invisible to the eye. A biocide:

  • Targets these remaining spores
  • Slows down regrowth dramatically
  • Keeps surfaces cleaner for longer

This is why we offer maintenance plans, where biocide treatments are reapplied periodically — typically every several months — to extend the life of the clean.

Result:

A cleaner surface for years, not just weeks.

Surfactants & Cleaning Boosters

What they are:

Surfactants are additives that help cleaning solutions:

  • Stick to vertical and porous surfaces
  • Penetrate grime more effectively
  • Rinse away evenly

Why they matter:

They improve overall cleaning performance while reducing:

  • Chemical run-off
  • Excess pressure
  • Repeat treatments

Traffic Film Remover (TFR)

What it is:

Traffic Film Remover (TFR) is a specialist cleaning solution designed to break down atmospheric pollution, oily residues, carbon deposits, and everyday environmental grime that builds up on exterior surfaces over time.

What it’s used for:

  • Gutters and guttering systems
  • Fascias and soffits
  • UPVC frames and cladding
  • Conservatory roofs
  • Solar panels

Why it’s used:

Over time, exterior plastic and coated surfaces develop a dull, dirty film caused by:

  • Airborne pollution
  • Road residue
  • General weathering
  • Oxidation and staining

TFR works by:

  • Cutting through stubborn grime without abrasive scrubbing
  • Restoring brightness to UPVC and coated finishes
  • Allowing a thorough clean with minimal agitation

This makes it ideal for soft washing and low-pressure cleaning, particularly on delicate or high-level surfaces.

Important to know:

When used professionally:

  • Dilution rates are adjusted for each surface
  • Sensitive areas are protected
  • Thorough rinsing is carried out

This ensures effective cleaning without damage or residue.

Environment
